I am a 4th generation cattleman, 34-year (retired) college professor, 43 year performance Simmental and Simangus breeder. I have tried and tested so many different nationally advertised cattle supplementation and mineral products; either they were way overpriced, weren’t cost effective and under delivered or they were cheap and full of urea. I tried By-O-Reg+ beginning last Fall, after months of no rain and we had an early freeze to boot; our cattle went up on body condition to an average of 6 and maintained that BCS score all winter (super wet and unseasonably cold) through calving! This was accomplished on very average quality hay, salt and By-O-Reg+. Our cost for winter supplementation was 0.34 cents per cow per day, BEST EVER on cost and BCS. The other very interesting result appears to be the effect on fertility! Cows on By-O-Reg+ are returning to estrus early; the benchmark for that is how the 2-year old first calvers are responding early. Never, in my 43 years of A.I.ing cattle, have we experienced this much early estrus activity!

Another huge advantage, this is also the first time in 43 years in the Spring that we have NOT had to treat 1 single calf for scours. Healthy baby calves grow very fast and put on pounds. I tell people, break it down what it costs you to feed per head per day. I try to explain, these products are a little expensive, but if it lasts you twice as long, and it still works and you see results, you can’t put a price tag on that. I feed 125 garlic tub and they last 3 weeks compared to 1 tub per week. It costs me 40 cents per hd per day, my other one was 80 cents per hd per day.

We have added By-O-reg+ to our show stock feed program and the difference is unmistakable. We loaded up for a show and when our cows got off the trailer after a twelve-hour ride, they were not sunken in or stressed at all. They looked like they were still on the farm. They went straight to water, feed, and hay. They ate every bite and never went off feed the entire time we were at the show. From a travel perspective, we see amazing stress reduction with our horses since we have been feeding Equine Protect. The stress of hauling, sitting on the trailer for 14 plus hours, and the Tulsa heat didn’t faze the horses and they performed amazing, all 9 of them.  When we ran out of the product, we traveled only 5 hours away to Nebraska where the weather was similar to SD, and by day 4, the horses were out of energy and the ones that couldn’t handle stress just fell apart.  We have been on this product a little over a year and we’ve seen the results and benefits while feeding the product and the decline in performance and mental health from running out of Equine Protect. This product does what they say it does.
